Jackson Memorial Jaguars girls basketball are now 3-0 this season with a 57-45 victory against Freehold Boro live at Shore Regional High School. It was the Blue Devil tournament between these two teams and a close game before Jackson took over late. Defenses for both teams set the tone early as they had trouble getting baskets on offense.
The Jaguars had a 9-8 lead heading into the second quarter where the offensive pace started to pick up. Freehold Boro got some better books at the basket, but Jackson could go that extra mile and extend their lead. Coach Rachel Goodale and Jackson Memorial led 28-18 at halftime with all the confidence/momentum against Freehold Boro. Jaguars had a comfortable lead midway through the third but Freehold was trying to make a comeback.
Jackson did a great job of preventing a run from them as they had a 40-29 lead going into the last quarter of this matchup. Freehold Boro made one last effort for a big run but fell short. They had trouble stopping Cali Brown, Isabella Finer, and Kayla Matos during this game. All three of them came up huge for the Jaguars. With a 57-45 victory, Jackson Memorial improves to 3-0, playing great team basketball and on the same page.
