The Marlboro High School girls basketball team faced a challenging night, falling to Middletown South, 50-20, in a tough road matchup. Despite a valiant effort, Marlboro struggled to keep pace with a dominant Middletown South squad controlling the game on both ends of the court.

Standout performances from Elizabeth Tardy and Caitlin Whyte powered Middletown South’s offense. Tardy led her team with 14 points, showcasing her ability to drive to the basket and capitalize on scoring opportunities. Close behind was Whyte, who added 13 points, contributing to Middletown’s well-rounded offensive attack.

For Marlboro, Olivia Stellato was a bright spot, scoring 15 of her team’s 20 points. Stellato’s effort and leadership on the court were evident as she fought hard to keep Marlboro in the game. However, the defensive pressure from Middletown South proved too much to overcome, as no other Marlboro player was able to reach double digits.

Middletown South’s defense played a key role in the win, limiting Marlboro’s scoring opportunities and forcing turnovers. Their ability to execute on both ends of the floor ultimately made the difference in the game.

While the loss was disappointing for Marlboro, the team will look to regroup and focus on the positives as they prepare for their next matchup. With Stellato’s strong performance as a foundation, the Mustangs will aim to bounce back and find their rhythm moving forward.

Middletown South’s impressive performance improves their momentum, and they will look to continue their winning ways in their upcoming games. Meanwhile, Marlboro will use this as a learning experience to grow and come back stronger for the remainder of the season.
