PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Nov. 3, 2025) — Rutgers Women’s Basketball started its home stand in style, cruising past Wagner 79-50 at Jersey Mike’s Arena. The Scarlet Knights used a dominant second half to pull away, outscoring the Seahawks 45-23 and showcasing a deep roster capable of scoring from every position.

Strong Start and Defensive Statement
Early on, both teams struggled to find rhythm. Rutgers shot just 19% in the first half but relied on defense to keep Wagner at bay. Wagner, meanwhile, couldn’t find consistency, going 5-for-27 from the field before halftime and finishing the night at only 25% shooting overall.
The Scarlet Knights’ defensive intensity was evident, forcing 23 turnovers while collecting 15 steals and 14 assists on 24 made baskets. Their ability to turn defense into offense fueled their second-half surge, capped by an explosive fourth quarter where they shot nearly 60% from the field.
Swann, Ivey, and Ndiaye Lead the Charge
Sophomore guard Lauryn Swann set the tone early, scoring 13 points on 5-of-12 shooting while adding six rebounds and four steals. Her backcourt partner Kaylah Ivey poured in 13 points as well, going 6-of-12 from the floor and bringing relentless energy on both ends.
Forward Nene Ndiaye was dominant in the paint, finishing with 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals in just 27 minutes. Transfer guard Zachara Perkins provided a spark off the bench with 11 points and 4 rebounds, while center Imani Lester anchored the middle with 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
Wagner’s Struggles Continue
For Wagner, it was a long night offensively. Klea Kaci led the Seahawks with 10 points, while Saioa San Francisco chipped in 8 points. Despite getting to the line 24 times, Wagner couldn’t convert consistently and shot just 11% from three-point range (2-for-18).
Turnovers and rebounding were the difference — Rutgers outrebounded Wagner 54-29, including 23 offensive boards that led to numerous second-chance points.
Looking Ahead
The Scarlet Knights (1-0) will look to build on this momentum as they continue their non-conference slate. Their depth, defense, and rebounding showcased a team identity that could carry them far this season.
Wagner (0-1), meanwhile, will regroup as they prepare to face tougher non-league opponents, needing to clean up turnovers and find a consistent scoring option.
