Rutgers men’s soccer kicked off its Homecoming weekend with a nationally ranked non-conference matchup, but the Scarlet Knights were unable to break through offensively in a 2–0 loss to the University of Washington.

The Huskies wasted little time setting the tone. At 9:13, Joe Dale opened the scoring with a composed finish following a well-executed buildup. Richie Aman and Zach Ramsey were credited with the assists on the play, giving Washington an early advantage.

Rutgers generated moments of pressure throughout the first half and into the second, but consistent defending from the Huskies limited clean scoring opportunities. Washington maintained control in key stretches and capitalized again late in the match.

In the 72nd minute, Nick O’Brien doubled the lead at 72:21, finishing off a setup from Cameron Cruz and Aman. The goal provided Washington breathing room and secured the road win.
Both teams showed flashes in possession, but Washington’s efficiency in the final third proved decisive. Rutgers will look to regroup as conference play continues, while Washington adds another strong result to its season resume.
